Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 June 2026

These terms apply to the booking and use of therapy services provided by Hanne-Cecilia Smyth-Olsen, Psychotherapist & Counsellor, through the website hannececilia.no / hannececilia.com.

1. The service

The service consists of individual therapy and couples therapy delivered by Hanne-Cecilia Smyth-Olsen. Sessions may be held online or in person, as specified at the time of booking.

Therapy is not an emergency service and does not replace medical or psychiatric treatment. In an acute crisis, please contact your local emergency services or crisis support resources in your country of residence. Emergency numbers and available crisis resources vary by country.

2. International clients

The service is provided by a Norwegian sole practitioner and is available to clients in Norway and internationally. The agreement is governed by Norwegian law regardless of where the client resides. Emergency services, consumer rights, and support resources may differ depending on the client's country of residence.

3. Booking and agreement

A binding agreement is formed when the booking is confirmed and payment is completed. You are responsible for providing accurate name, email address and contact details when booking.

4. Prices and payment

Current prices are shown at booking. Payment is made in advance via Stripe.

5. Cancellation and rescheduling

Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled free of charge up to 48 hours before the agreed time. Cancellations or no-shows with less than 48 hours' notice are charged the full session fee.

Late attendance does not extend the session time and the full session fee remains payable.

Cancellation or rescheduling requests may be sent to therapy@hannececilia.com.

6. Right of withdrawal

Under section 22(m) of the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act, the statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to services tied to a specific date or time. The cancellation rules in section 5 apply.

7. Confidentiality and privacy

Everything shared in therapy is treated as confidential. However, confidentiality may be limited in certain circumstances where disclosure is required by law or where there is a serious concern for safety.

This may include situations involving:

  • A serious and/or imminent risk of harm to yourself or others.
  • Concerns regarding the safety, welfare, abuse, or neglect of a child or vulnerable person.
  • Circumstances where disclosure is required by a court, legal authority, or other applicable legal obligation.

Where possible and appropriate, I will seek to discuss any required disclosure with you first.

Processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Limitation of liability

The service is provided using best professional judgement. No guarantee is given as to a particular therapeutic outcome. Liability for indirect losses is limited to the extent permitted by law.

9. Changes to the terms

These terms may be updated to reflect changes in the service or applicable regulations. The most recent version is always available on this page.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

The agreement is governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are sought resolved amicably and may otherwise be brought before the ordinary Norwegian courts or the Norwegian Consumer Authority / Consumer Disputes Commission.
